How to change menu prices without reprinting
Prices change: ingredients, rent, supplier costs. Most cafés and restaurants handle it by crossing out a number on the printed menu, sticking a label over it, or paying a printer to do a whole new run. All three are slow, look untidy, and cost money.
The fix: one menu, many outputs
Keep your menu in one place, with each dish and price stored once. Then print from it, and publish a live version from it. When a price changes, you change it in one place, and every copy is right.
- Change the price on your phone (about ten seconds).
- The live menu updates straight away, so guests who scan the code see the new price.
- Your printed QR code still works, because it points to a link that never changes.
When you still need to reprint
A printed menu that shows the old price stays wrong until it's replaced, so reprint when the change is big or when whole pages are out of date. Print in small runs on your own printer, or use a print shop only for the first copy. Printing on your own printer is cheap when the whole menu fits on one page.
Tips for keeping prices honest
- Check prices once a month, and whenever a supplier sends a new price list.
- Mark a dish sold out instead of deleting it, so guests know it's temporarily off.
- Use a "today's special" for short-term changes, and take it off when it's over.
Build your menu once, free, and change prices from your phone from now on.
